While eating breakfast in Winchester this morning, I saw a cycle tourist pass by heading out route 64. Since I planned to go out route 50, I didn't figure I'd meet up with him. However route 64 north of town is a new road that doesn't appear on many older maps, including mine. Turns out that 50 now follows 64 for part of the way, and it was there that I caught up with him. Si is 62 years old, and this is his third solo cross-country tour. We rode together and chatted for 5-10 miles until he turned south toward Chatanooga.
Tonight I am camping at
Fall Creek Falls
State Park. This being Independence Day weekend, I was lucky to get
the very last tent site available. There are a lot of bicycles in the
park, but most are rented mountain bikes.
