For breakfast this morning I had the $1.99 buffet at a nearby restaurant. I had scrambled eggs, hash browns, 2 sausages, French toast, two pancakes and tea. It was so good I forked over another $1.99 and had another round.
I'm glad I brought along my Santa Rosa Cycling Club jersey, which I wear nearly every day while riding. It's surprising the number of times, in some little backwater town, that someone will tell me they used to live in Sebastapol, or have relatives in Roseville who took them on a tour of the Sonoma County wine country last spring, etc. The jersey also makes a good prop when answering the inevitable "Where you coming from?" question.
Today we are in Huntsville, home town of Orville Faubus, former governor of Arkansas. We are staying at the Faubus Motel, which has a big painting of the Gov in the office. Turns out the place used to be owned by his first wife. Haven't seen any Clinton Motels yet.
The terrain is definitely getting hillier. I prefer long
sustained hills rather than the short up-and-downs we are seeing.
Adam likes to sprint up these short hills, which leaves me
panting anaerobically in his dust.
