"The Open-air Motel"

Alan straddling his bike in four states at one time

Near the end of today's route, we jogged north to visit "Four Corners", the only place in the United States where four states meet at one point.

Motels are few and far between out here in the desert. Tonight we made it as far as the tiny town of Teec Nos Pos where we plan to pitch camp by the side of the road adjacent to the convenience store. We were going to use the old falling-down abandoned gas station across the road, but funk does have its limits. :=)

Although the diary doesn't mention it, I think this is the night we ended up sleeping on the front porch of an Indian trading post. It worked fine, except for getting awakened by people coming in the middle of the night to use the pay phone...

Tomorrow we should be in Bloomfield NM, where there is a KOA and a Super-8 motel. Hopefully from here on out we will be in more-popluated areas where lodging should be easier to find.
