Today we had hoped to finally get our "rest day" -- it's starting to become
a joke. Since there were no campgrounds or motels along the route we
pushed on to Sanger for a total of 70 miles and 3500 ft of climbing.
But there was a lot of descending coming out of the Sierras. Boy it's
an odd feeling doing 35 miles an hour into a stiff head wind without
pedalling! The last 14 flat miles between Academy and Sanger were
also nice -- strong tailwinds the whole way. It sure is nice to be able
to crank along at 20 mph at the end of the day.
I amused myself by taking photos of Frank from a moving bicycle.
No big adventures today other than a bee got caught in a finger
of my cycling glove. I once had an allergic reaction, so I took a
Benadryl just to be safe. Tomorrow will be a short-mile rest day.
(Where have I heard that before?)
